Such education includes gaining a thorough comprehension of the anatomy, biomechanics, and ways to minimize strain on the jaw and neck. Typically, the treatment for TMD includes manual therapy, education, and various exercises.

Sukhan graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology. During his time at Simon Fraser University, he competed as an NCAA athlete and was a member of the Canadian National Wrestling team. These experiences fostered a special interest in sport-related injuries, which ultimately led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Robert Gordon University in Scotland.

Sukhan is a certified practitioner in intramuscular (IMS) therapy, concussion management (CCMI), GLA:D Canada Arthritis program, and a Lvl 3 NCCP coach. Sukhan enjoys working with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and age groups. He utilizes his training and skills to address the whole person and encourages his patients to be partners in their health/rehabilitation journeys in order to improve their quality of life.

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys youth coaching, reading, travelling, and taking walks with his dog.

Shawndra is a sports and orthopaedic physiotherapist, yoga and Clinical Pilates teacher, and a movement optimist with 20+ years of clinical experience. She graduated from UBC in 1995 with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics, and from Manchester University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. Since then, she has earned the internationally recognized designation of Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMPT) as well as her certifications as a Gunn IMS practitioner, and Yoga and Clinical Pilates teacher.

Shawndra takes an active approach to rehab, whether it’s navigating pain, recovering from injury, or achieving a performance goal. She believes in empowering patients to be the hero in their story, helping them feel powerful, capable, and resilient in their own bodies.

A former competitive swimmer, Shawndra has worked with athletes of all levels of sports, including hockey, lacrosse, and soccer. She was the past Team Physiotherapist for the Whitecaps Women’s Reserve Team and Whitecaps Youth Team. Selina graduated from McGill University with her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy after completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Athletic Therapy at The University of Winnipeg. Her experiences include working with individuals in various settings such as sports teams at the university and professional levels, acute inpatient rehabilitation, and private orthopedic clinics seeing general orthopedic conditions and temporomandibular disorders. Selina has completed post-graduate courses in The Physical Therapy Approach to Female Urinary Incontinence, Orthopedic Division Manual Therapy Level 1 and Soft Tissue Release Techniques. She looks forward to furthering her education in temporomandibular disorders and manual therapy. Steven grew up in Burnaby, where at an early age he wanted to pursue a career that combined his love of physical activity with his desire to help others. This led Steven to complete a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Western University. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (First Class with Distinction) at Simon Fraser University.

A keen student, Steven was involved in numerous opportunities to learn as much as he could in and out of the classroom. This included 5 years as an athletic trainer where he provided on-field injury management and taught rehabilitative exercises to athletes to help them return to play. Steven was a trainer for SFU’s NCAA Division II Football team, Field Lacrosse team and the Coquitlam Adanacs Jr. A Lacrosse team with whom he attended three national championships including their Minto Cup victory in 2016.

As a physiotherapist, Steven draws from all his past experiences to provide you with a comprehensive, individualized rehabilitation program to assist you in returning to activity and achieving your goals. Steven is very passionate about empowering all his patients by educating them on their injury and providing them with exercises and strategies to manage their pain and improve their function. In doing so, he hopes to not only help you recover from your injury but also prevent other injuries from happening in the future.

“Having graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences, majoring in biomedical studies (2014), Tory went on to complete her Masters in Physical Therapy (2017) at the University of British Columbia and was part of the Rural and Remote cohort that undertook clinical placements in underserved areas of northern British Columbia. After applying for a working holiday visa, Tory moved to the Channel Islands where she continued pelvic health, MSK, and orthopaedic work. After her time in the Channel Islands, Tory took on physio contracts throughout the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. Before returning to Canada, Tory worked in London Bridge Hospital where she was able to work directly with and learn from world class surgeons using cutting edge orthopaedic techniques. Tory has been a part of the Canadian Football League baseline concussion testing team and has provided pitch-side care for a number of rugby and soccer teams. She obtained her Pre-Hospital Care in Sport Level II certification through England Rugby and has completed the Complete Concussion Management training. Tory has experience treating a large variety of patients including pre and post-surgical, geriatric, post trauma, and athletic populations. She particularly enjoys rehabbing athletes to return to sport and helping people get back to the activities they enjoy. Charles graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2014 and went on to complete his Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy in 2017 from Robert Gordon University in Scotland. Having worked as a team physiotherapist with the Vancouver Whitecaps, from the Academy to the professional First Team, Charles has a keen interest in sports injuries and performance. Charles is a strong believer in movement is medicine and utilizes an array of treatment techniques and individualized exercise to get patients feeling and moving better. He has completed post-graduate courses in IMS/Dry Needling and spinal manipulation. He is also Certified through The Running Clinic, which utilizes the most current scientific evidence and research in assessing and treating running-related injuries. When not in the clinic, Charles enjoys playing a variety of sports and challenging himself in physical endeavours outside of his comfort zone. James graduated from the University of Alberta’s Master of Science in Physical Therapy program and the University of British Columbia’s Bachelor of Kinesiology program. James believes that with evidence-based practice and client-specific treatments, anybody can improve their physical wellness regardless of their age and ability. He uses a combination of client education, rehabilitative exercise, and manual therapy to empower patients to regain their everyday function. James is passionate about supporting patients in their rehabilitative journey and has experience working with a wide variety of populations, most notably those with sports injuries, arthritic joints, neck/shoulder pains, and recent surgeries. James plans on furthering his education in manual therapy and vestibular rehabilitation.
